Bio
I am a researcher and designer with a background ranging from yacht and automotive design to architecture and live visuals. My research interests stem from the philosophy of technology and focus on new perceptions of the body and self through altering the perception of time and space in photography, video, and virtual reality. With this, I pioneered a new methodology for environmental data visualization called, realtime lapse (2013, IEEE) and the new aesthetic of 'time slice' in photography and visual culture (2010).
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Design, University of Cincinnati, and MFA in Design and Media Arts, UCLA, and speak and exhibit my work at international events and institutions. Since 2015 I have been speaking on artificial intelligence, augmented intelligence, and the ethics of technology.
After a 10-year hiatus addressing more urgent concerns (I founded a Tokyo-based AI company for environmental assessment), I completed my Doctorate in Media Arts and Technology, titled Aesthetics for a Philosophy of Scale.
